This series was inspired by the Classic Movie Monsters from the “Golden Age of Hollywood”. This print features “The Gill-Man”, from the 1954 Universal Pictures Film “The Creature from The Black Lagoon”, directed by Jack Arnold. Unlike the other “Famous Monsters of Filmland”, the man behind the mask was not a known Hollywood star. In fact the creature was actually portrayed by 2 different actors. Ben Chapman played the creature on land while Ricou Browning wore the suit for all of the underwater sequences.

This poster was originally designed to promote ZombiCon, the annual celebration of the living dead, which takes place in Fort Myers, Florida. The image is based on the “Fool” card, from the classic Rider-Waite tarot deck. It is signed by the artist.
